I love it that Ezra plays that playful string of six++ notes as part of the intro in this version. This doesn’t have the violins in the last part of the original arrangement, which makes it feel more laid back, casual and spontaneous.

Note to self:
Let’s get out of this country
I’ll admit I am bored with me
I drowned my sorrows and slept around
When not in body, at least in mind…

What does this city have to offer me?
I just can’t see

It was great fun but it was just… one of those things!

This Jamie Cullum song (originally by Cole Porter!) is my anthem of the moment. Hardeehar.

Illustrator and typographer Jessica Hische is in Auckland to speak at Semi-Permanent. She talked to 95bFM’s Charlotte Ryan about how and why she practises her craft.

I like how Ms. Hische defines what a designer does in part: “Designers are basically curators. They take people like me that are letterers, illustrators and photographers, and they are able to say ‘This is the best team to put together for this particular job.’”

In the morning it won’t be there no more

This can pass as one of my life’s anthems (I’m not a fan of the ‘stoned’ line, but that’s beside the point.)

I don’t remember you looking any better
But then again I don’t remember you

Declaration of Dependence has got to be my favorite KoC album. I love “Peacetime Resistance” because of its lush sounding violins and wicked (but still calming) bass lines.

(My ill self stayed in yesterday. The Kings kept me company.)
